Unfortunately it is the court of ignorant public opinion that prevails in Ireland and an alarmist media who feed on and sell fear Ireland should of course have gone down the nuclear route just like France and Slovenia did. I have worked on many EU projects in Slovenia and with their nuclear people and they have no problems
Ah well when you live in a gombeen country like Ireland what do you expect – most of whom do not know whether their rear ends are :
A punced bored or B counter sunk !!
What we have are a bunch of idiots pushing subsidized renewables aka wind to line the pockets of the developer / carpetbaggers
Best Wishes

It’s only now that suitably sized reactors are again available for Ireland that the debate can really start again in earnest. The space has been filled for the past decades by those peddling anti-nuclear FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) and this has left the door open for the fossil fuel companies to prosper. Renewables will be allowed to grow to their potential as that is the clear will of the people despite the financial implications and the slow rate of growth.
The remaining space, if not filled by nuclear, will be filled by polluting fossil fuels.
So, it would appear that what is good for the Environment is not good for some Environmentalists. I wonder what their true motivation is, then?
Despite all this, I believe that Irish people can see reason at least as well as anybody and so, once the motivation is present, there is every chance that we will supply some of our low carbon power with small nuclear plants – perhaps even in time to replace Moneypoint around 2030?
